24hr/48hr Assignment Research

This is an interesting brief...I guess I'll start researching about what people have created with type
first I guess.

One of the sites I found a while back has typographic t-shirts that insult some of the others.

http://www.not-my-type.com/index.html

Can't really blame them to be honest.  T-Shirt designs are the standard idea in my head at the moment as its something I like to design for as you have tons of freedom when in relation to choosing the topic you can go off on tangents, references and the like.

Although I guess I should think about exploring other routes such actually making something outside photoshop/illustrator since it does force me out of my comfort zone. I guess my main worry is that I'm not that big of an artist yet.

Google is my friend:

Interesting sign, I would assume this guy never goes anywhere without this sign so technically he would be wearing it right?

Interesting, use a quote or statement. Could stick or stitch it on the actual sleeve. If I could stitch I would seriously consider something along these lines.

I became aware of this designer and the crazy badass things he does with type through the documentary 'Helvetica' by Gary Huswitt.

Here is some of the things he has done with type, I would love to do the whole type on the body thing but I'd be afraid I'd mess it up; along with myself.

Found some similar stuff on a site called hellotypo

This one is by a guy called Sebastian Cremers

Got linked to this from the above site, now this is an interesting style to say the least...

Seems like they used a lot of felt products with glue. Isn't something your really gonna be wearing on a regular basis though.

More from hellotypo below.

Holy **** where my exact words I recall.

Much like the Sagmeister one. Guess you could print the letters out and where them on you like a tattoo except not as permanent. Still a pretty strange thing to do though (in relation to wearing type outside and not as a model/advert for an article or album(but then again you do advertise yourself in a way; in social situation-introductions, the clothes and interests you have, not totally unjustified walking about with type all over you since it does mean something to you like most tattoos)).

Not totally relevant but when ever I go about a pure type project I usually watch or look up information similar to this:

More type research in general

This public service announcement is brought to you by David Carson
This is an important fact I sometimes forget. Usually suits super grungy designs.

^ This is exactly the ideas I have had in mind in my sketches/mind maps. I think I may be on to something here.
