Illustration Research

These symbols and icons below have an interesting design style. They use minimal detail but identifiable features such as loudspeakers etc to convey the message. Well that is pretty self-explanatory, it would be a good idea convey icon and symbol design into this project.

If doing a website that can be viewed on mobile platforms as well as home computers it may be wise to inject some personality into the icons or symbols to grab attention more in a anxious situation?

Like some altered x-rays to show where the injury is for one instance.

Interesting idea for an advert above with the ice pack.

Maybe use humour; even if injury is no laughing matter it would act as a useful distraction for people panicking or having anxiety attacks I guess.

Useful instructions will be needed too of course as shown above.

Preliminary Research

When deciding to do 2D Illustration as my project medium. I had 2 main ideas at the start.

One was the new CPR now designated as CCC- Continuous Chest Compression and the
other was Concussion

Concussion Treatment

CCC

I learn't from Niall in the first lecture of the year that CPR is only 25% successful anyway, so that is one reason I chose to illustrate concussion. Due to the general public not knowing much about treating it compared to others such as CPR I figure it would benefit the public more to know how to treat this common ailment.

Concussion occurs when struck with a strong blow and damages the tissues of the body such as the brain

Concussion Definition

Other pictures I looked at for the illustration are uploaded. After todays seminar I am slightly unsure as to have it as a poster or have it as an easily accessible application for mobile devices or depicted on common goods such as flasks, bottles, towels etc.

Here are some of the styles I was considering for illustration. I still want to keep the illustration simple so this might be too detailed still.
